SYLVAN CONTINUES TO GROW NEW PART:TIME EDUCATION LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a passionate and engaging Director of Education to lead our teaching team at our Louisville (Fern Creek) location. This is a part:time position, possibly leading to a full:time position in the future as we continue to grow.

At Sylvan we have a complete process that begins by analyzing each childs strengths and areas for improvement. We then develop an individualized education plan based on these results. We offer programs students K:12, in reading, writing, math, homework support, study skills, and ACT/SAT Test Prep. We also offer enrichment courses in STEM standards including Math Edge, Engineering, Robotics with Legos, and our Programming/Game Design course.


Position: Director of Education

General Summary:

As the Director of Education, your primary responsibility will be to champion the Sylvan developed curriculum, and manage and ensure the quality of the education standards and teaching staff as we grow the business in your center. You will develop and schedule teachers, and assist in outreach activities within schools and the surrounding community.

Essential Job Functions:

Service Delivery and Center Growth
:Manage and deliver ongoing conferences to maintain parent commitment to program and secure additional sales. Keep parents informed of progress.
:Make recommendations to alter program prescriptions or offer additional programs.
:Manage Enrollment Conferences with parents.
:Build additional Center revenue by maximizing referrals, re:enrolling previous students, and outreach to inquiries/tests that did not previously enroll.
:Administer skills assessment; analyzes testing results and complete summaries.
:Write appropriate goals for students based on initial testing.
:Administer progress tests correctly and write progress reports accurately.
:Proactively analyze and conduct prescription quality reviews on an ongoing basis to ensure success of every student.
:Discuss student progress with teachers prior to parent conference.
:Maintain knowledge of all Sylvan academic programs; coordinates the training of all these programs for all team members; including the Center Director. Maintain education material.
:Maintain a 3:1 table ratio at the Center.
:Reports education statistics as needed (e.g., length of stay, ratio, holds, dis:enrolls).

Manage and Train
:Select, train, and manage teaching employees.
:Provide oversight to staff related to all educational policies and procedures.
:Motivate and continually develop/train teaching employees; effective lead staff meetings.
:Demonstrate and uphold a high level of staff morale and spirit; ensure the professional appearance and operations of Center and off site employees.
:Create and maintain a staff schedule that meets the needs of current and potential students and families for the center and for off site locations.

Ensure Educational Integrity:
:Motivate and develop staff through ongoing trainings and workshops
:Administer Sylvan Skills Assessments: analyze and interpret results
:Write and recommend goal:based programs for Sylvan students as well as monitor programs for performance.
:Establish relationships and communications with students teachers for insights on school progress.
:Create positive learning environment by modeling motivational behavior in the center for staff, students and parents, during all phases of the instructional program.

Fiscal Responsibility
:Contribute to center profitability by controlling labor budget through managing instructor staffing levels and schedules
:Understand and execute to profit and loss statement.
:Collect payments from customers and complete end:of:month paperwork.
Requirements
:A Bachelors degree.
:Minimum 2 years teaching experience
:State level teaching certification (current or expired)
